Topmate Charges 2026: Commission, Fees and What You Keep

Topmate charges a 10% commission on sales through your own link and 20% on new customers from its marketplace. A 2% transaction fee is added on rupee payments, and 18% GST is charged on Topmate's whole fee. On a ₹1,000 booking through your own link, you keep ₹858.40, which is 85.84% of the price.
Updated 2 October 2026. Every Topmate figure below was read from Topmate's own pages that day.
Key takeaways
- The real deduction on a direct booking is 14.16%, not 10%. Topmate's own payout help article works through a ₹1,000 booking: ₹120 fee (commission plus transaction charge) and ₹21.60 GST on that fee.
- Marketplace sales cost more. New customers who find you through Topmate's marketplace are charged at 20%. If the 2% transaction fee also applies, you keep about ₹740 of ₹1,000. Topmate does not say whether it does.
- There is no subscription. No monthly fee, no setup fee. Sellers above ₹10 lakh a month can ask for custom pricing.
- Payouts in rupees are fast after the first one. Topmate says 95% of Indian bank withdrawals land within an hour, but your first withdrawal opens only 7 days after your first paid booking.
- Topmate describes its own fees four different ways across its pages. The section below lists each one with its source.
Disclosure: Peerseek (peerseek.io) is an India-first platform where creators sell 1:1 sessions, webinars, courses and digital products, and it competes with Topmate. Peerseek publishes this guide. Every Topmate figure comes from a page Topmate publishes, linked and dated below. Where we did arithmetic on Topmate's numbers, we say so.
Who this is for: mentors, coaches and creators in India who sell paid calls on Topmate, or are about to, and want to know what actually reaches their bank account. If you are deciding which platform to move to, read Best Topmate Alternatives in India after this.

Topmate charges at a glance
Topmate pricing has no plans or tiers. The Topmate commission depends on where the buyer came from, and two more charges sit on top of it.
| Charge | Rate | Where Topmate says it |
|---|---|---|
| Commission, sales through your own profile or link | 10% | Pricing page |
| Commission, new customers from Topmate's marketplace | 20% | Pricing page |
| Transaction fee, rupee (INR) payments | 2%, fixed | Payout guidelines |
| Transaction fee, international payments | 2.6% + $0.30, plus 1.5% to 2% by currency, plus 0.3% on an international card, $1 minimum | Payout guidelines |
| GST | 18% of Topmate's fee on INR payments, 9% on international | Payout guidelines |
| Monthly or setup fee | None | Pricing page: "No upfront fees. No recurring charges." |
| Custom pricing | For sellers making ₹10 lakh or $20,000 a month | Pricing page |
Topmate does charge a transaction fee. Some summaries say the 10% is the only charge, but Topmate's own payout guidelines add a fixed 2% on every rupee payment.
Two details matter. The transaction fee sits on top of the commission, because Topmate's worked example labels its fee as "commission + transaction charge". And GST is charged on that fee, not on your sale price. Topmate's payout article says it emails a monthly tax invoice to creators who add a GST number, so a GST-registered creator may be able to claim that GST back as input tax credit. Check with your CA.
What you keep from one booking
Topmate's payout guidelines, last edited on 16 July, work through a ₹1,000 booking paid in rupees through the creator's own link:
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| What your customer pays | ₹1,000.00 |
| Topmate's fee (10% commission + 2% transaction charge) | ₹120.00 |
| GST at 18% of the ₹120 fee | ₹21.60 |
| What reaches you (our arithmetic) | ₹858.40 |
The first three lines are Topmate's. The last line is ours: ₹1,000 minus ₹120 minus ₹21.60. That is 85.84% of the price, so the effective deduction is 14.16%.

The same rate applied across common session prices:
| Session price | Own link (12% + GST) | Marketplace (22% + GST), if the 2% applies |
|---|---|---|
| ₹500 | ₹429.20 | ₹370.20 |
| ₹1,000 | ₹858.40 | ₹740.40 |
| ₹2,000 | ₹1,716.80 | ₹1,480.80 |
| ₹5,000 | ₹4,292.00 | ₹3,702.00 |
The marketplace column is an estimate. Topmate's pricing page sets the marketplace commission at 20% but no Topmate page says whether the 2% transaction fee is also added. If it is not, you keep ₹764 of ₹1,000 instead of ₹740.40. The 20% applies only to new customers who find you through the marketplace. A repeat buyer or anyone arriving through your own link is charged at 10%.
International buyers cost more. Topmate's example for a €100 booking puts the gateway part at about €4.65. Add the 10% commission and 9% GST on the combined fee, and by our arithmetic you keep about €84 of €100, an effective deduction of about 16% on an international booking.

Why you see 10%, 12%, around 3% and keep 90%
If you have read three different numbers for Topmate's fees, it is because Topmate's own pages give three different numbers. All of these were live on 2 October 2026:
- Pricing page headline: 10% on every sale through your profile or link.
- Pricing page FAQ: payment gateways "typically charge around 3%", described as "beyond our control".
- Pricing page comparison table: Topmate's transaction fees are listed as "2%/3%". The 2.9% on that same table belongs to the Calendly and Gumroad columns, not Topmate.
- Payout guidelines (16 July): rupee payments are "a fixed rate of 2% per transaction".
- Older Payouts help article (October 2025): transaction fees are charged "at actuals".
- Courses page: "You keep 90% of the course price", in the same answer that says Topmate takes "10% commission + transaction charges".
- Topmate Premium help article (February 2025): says Premium has "no associated cost" at 10% plus 2%, and also that it comes "at 3% increased commission". Neither the pricing page nor the home page mentions Premium.
The newest and most specific source is the payout guidelines article, so that is what this guide uses: 10% plus 2% on rupee payments, with 18% GST on the total. Older Peerseek guides used a third-party estimate of about 12.9%. That figure left out GST and is replaced by the numbers above.
Topmate payouts, refunds and no-shows
When the money arrives (Topmate's payout guidelines):
- First withdrawal: you can request it only once 7 days have passed since your first paid booking. It is then processed within 7 business days.
- After that, Indian bank account: Topmate says 95% of withdrawals are credited within 1 hour, some take up to 48 hours, and bank holidays delay them.
- International bank or PayPal: within 7 business days of the request.
- Manual review: some requests are held for review, cleared within 48 hours.
Bank payouts work for accounts in India and the USA, and PayPal covers other countries. Topmate's pages also describe payout speed as "Instant" (pricing FAQ), "0 to 2 days" (older Payouts article) and "typically 3 to 5 business days" (courses FAQ). No Topmate page we read states a minimum payout amount.
Refunds (Topmate's terms, updated 1 December 2025): if you cancel a session, the buyer is refunded automatically. If the buyer cancels at least 24 hours before the start, they get a full refund. Inside 24 hours, a refund needs your approval. Digital products, recorded or self-paced courses and instant-access content are not refundable once bought.
No-shows: if a buyer reports that you did not show up, you have 72 hours to resolve it, according to Topmate's no-show help article. Otherwise the buyer is refunded.
Not published: none of the 26 help articles, the terms or the pricing page say whether Topmate returns its own fee when a buyer is refunded, or how TDS is handled.
How much mentors earn on Topmate
To earn on Topmate, you list paid calls, webinars or digital products on your Topmate page and share its link; Topmate keeps its fee from each sale and you withdraw the rest to your bank. How much that comes to depends on your price and how many people book.
There is no published average, and search results for "Topmate salary" mostly show employer pages: Glassdoor and AmbitionBox list Topmate as a company and describe what working at Topmate pays. That answers a different question from what a mentor earns on Topmate.
What Topmate itself says: its pricing FAQ states that its creators "charge anywhere from $50 to $500 for a session", and the pricing page claims creators "earn 73% more" without saying more than what, or how it was measured.
What you can work out yourself is take-home pay:
Monthly take-home on Topmate = session price × paid sessions × 0.8584 (own-link sales in rupees)
| Monthly bookings | Gross | You keep on Topmate (own link) | Fees and GST |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 calls at ₹1,000 | ₹10,000 | ₹8,584 | ₹1,416 |
| 20 calls at ₹2,000 | ₹40,000 | ₹34,336 | ₹5,664 |
| 20 calls at ₹5,000 | ₹1,00,000 | ₹85,840 | ₹14,160 |
Bookings are the hard part, not the fee. The only earnings split we found published is from EximPe, a payments company that sells an alternative to Topmate's international payouts. It says the bottom 80% of Topmate creators earn under ₹5,000 a month, and cites no source for that figure. Treat it as an opinion, not data.
Is Topmate genuine
Yes. Topmate is run by Kavalry Technologies Private Limited, a company registered in Bengaluru, according to its terms. It collects payments and pays creators, with published payout rules and a refund policy. Three things are worth knowing before you rely on it:
- Reviews: Trustpilot shows no rating for Topmate. Its page says the rating is unavailable due to a breach of its guidelines and that it removed a number of fake reviews.
- Buyer complaints: a 2025 thread on r/developersIndia with over 700 upvotes warns buyers about mentors with farmed reviews charging ₹1,000 or more for a 30-minute call. The complaint is about some sellers, not about Topmate's payouts.
- Shifting terms: fee and payout wording differs across Topmate's own pages, as shown above. Screenshot the pricing and payout pages on the day you sign up.
The same booking on Peerseek
Peerseek charges a flat 5% on each paid booking, and that 5% includes payment processing. Nothing is added on top, so a ₹1,000 booking pays you ₹950.
| Topmate (own link) | Peerseek | |
|---|---|---|
| ₹1,000 booking | ₹858.40 | ₹950.00 |
| ₹2,000 booking | ₹1,716.80 | ₹1,900.00 |
| 20 calls at ₹2,000 a month | ₹34,336 | ₹38,000 |
| Difference over a year at that volume | ₹43,968 more on Peerseek | |
| Monthly fee | None | None |
| Marketplace that brings new buyers | Yes, at 20% | No |
Where Topmate is the better fit:
- You need its marketplace. Peerseek does not list you in a directory. Every buyer comes from your own link, bio or posts.
- You need money the same hour. On Peerseek, earnings from a session become withdrawable 24 hours after you mark it complete, and withdrawals are paid to your bank by the Peerseek team, not instantly.
- You sell abroad. Peerseek takes payments in rupees only.
If your buyers already come from your Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube or WhatsApp, you are paying Topmate's direct rate for a sale you made yourself. That is the case where the gap in the table above is real money.
Move your 1:1 calls in four steps
- Sign up and claim your username. Your page becomes `peerseek.io/yourname`.
- Add a 1:1 session. Set the title, price, duration and call type (video on Google Meet, or a phone call), plus any questions you want answered before the call.
- Set your weekly hours and the minimum notice you need before a booking.
- Add your bank account with IFSC and OTP verification, then replace your Topmate link in your bio with your Peerseek link.
Keep your Topmate page live until sessions already booked there have passed.

Does Topmate charge GST on its fees?+
Yes. Topmate charges GST on its own fee, not on your sale price: 18% for rupee payments and 9% for international payments. On a ₹1,000 booking, that is ₹21.60 on a ₹120 fee. Creators who add a GST number get a monthly tax invoice from Topmate.
What are Topmate's payment gateway charges?+
Topmate's payout guidelines set rupee payments at a fixed 2% per transaction. International payments cost 2.6% plus $0.30, plus 1.5% or 2% depending on currency, plus 0.3% on an international card, with a $1 minimum. Older Topmate pages describe this fee as "around 3%" or "at actuals".
How long do Topmate payouts take?+
Your first withdrawal opens 7 days after your first paid booking and takes up to 7 business days. After that, Topmate says 95% of Indian bank withdrawals arrive within an hour, some take up to 48 hours. International bank and PayPal payouts take up to 7 business days.
How much can I earn on Topmate?+
Topmate publishes no average. Your take-home on rupee sales through your own link is the session price times your paid sessions times 0.8584. For example, 20 calls at ₹2,000 a month leaves ₹34,336 after Topmate's fees and GST. Bookings, not the fee, decide most mentors' income.
Is Topmate genuine?+
Topmate is a real company that pays creators, with payout rules and a refund policy in its terms. Trustpilot currently shows no rating for it after removing fake reviews, and some buyers have complained about mentors with farmed reviews. Screenshot its pricing and payout pages when you sign up.
Does Topmate have a monthly plan or Premium fee?+
Topmate's pricing page lists no subscription: no setup fee and no recurring charge. A February 2025 help article describes a Topmate Premium plan as costing 3% more commission, but Premium is not on the current pricing page. Sellers above ₹10 lakh a month can ask for custom pricing.
Keep more of each booking
If your buyers already find you on Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube or WhatsApp, a Peerseek booking page takes about ten minutes to set up, costs nothing until you earn, and keeps ₹950 of every ₹1,000.

How we checked these numbers
Every Topmate figure was read on 2 October 2026 from a page Topmate publishes, from the raw page source and again in a rendered browser with each FAQ opened: the pricing page, the home page, the courses page, the terms, and Topmate's help centre articles on payout guidelines, payouts, Topmate Premium and no-shows. We kept dated screenshots of each.
The ₹858.40, the price ladder, the monthly table and the €84 figure are our arithmetic on Topmate's published rates. The marketplace column assumes the 2% transaction fee also applies, which Topmate does not state. Third-party sources are named where used: Trustpilot, r/developersIndia and EximPe. Peerseek's fee and payout behaviour were checked against the product on the same date. Topmate changes its pages, so check the payout guidelines before relying on any figure here.
