How to Sell an Online Course in India Without a Subscription (2026)

In short: You can sell an online course in India without paying any monthly or annual platform subscription. Peerseek Courses charges ₹0 upfront, ₹0 platform fee, and a 5% transaction fee only when a sale actually happens. Most Indian course platforms instead charge ₹24,999 to ₹3,60,000 per year plus a cut of up to 10% on every sale.

Transparency note: Peerseek Courses is our own product. Competitor pricing below is read from each vendor's public pricing page on 27 July 2026. Always re-check current pricing before you switch.

Key takeaways

  • Indian course platforms typically stack two charges: a subscription and a percentage of every sale.
  • Graphy's entry plan is ₹24,999/year and still takes 10% per sale. Its ₹99,999/year plan takes 5%, which is the same rate Peerseek charges at ₹0/year.
  • Tagmango's zero-subscription tier takes 10% per sale, and Tagmango lists a separate setup fee on top.
  • A zero-commission plan only starts beating a 5% pay-per-sale platform above roughly ₹60 lakh a year in course revenue. The formula is below so you can run it on your own numbers.
  • Content protection (encrypted video, watermarking, session limits) is usually gated behind premium tiers elsewhere. On Peerseek it is on by default for every creator.

The problem: you pay before you earn

If you have an audience and something worth teaching, the hard part in India is not building the course. It is the entry fee.

Every serious Indian course platform asks you to commit money before a single student enrolls. You are asked to bet ₹25,000 or more on a course you have not validated, to an audience that has not bought from you yet, in a format you have not taught in before.

That is backwards. The creators who most deserve to run a course, the ones with genuine expertise and a real but modest audience, are exactly the ones who cannot justify that bet.

What Indian course platforms actually cost in 2026

Here is the published pricing, as of July 2026. Verify on each vendor's site before you commit, since pricing moves.

Platform / planSubscriptionCut per sale
Peerseek Courses₹05% transaction fee. 0% platform fee.
Graphy Launch₹24,999/year10% per sale, or ₹10, whichever is higher
Graphy Grow₹49,999/year7.5% per sale
Graphy Rise₹99,999/year5% per sale
Tagmango Basic₹0 (setup fee applies, see below)10% commission
Tagmango Pro₹50,000/year5% commission
Tagmango Advanced₹1,50,000/year2.5% commission
Tagmango Ultimate₹3,60,000/year0% commission, 1.5% gateway charge
Classplus₹15,000 to ₹50,000/yearvaries by plan

Graphy and Tagmango figures come from their own published pricing pages. Three things jump out.

First, Graphy's ₹99,999/year Rise plan brings you down to 5% per sale. That is the same rate Peerseek charges without any annual fee at all. You are paying ₹99,999 a year to reach a rate you could have started at.

Second, Tagmango's zero-subscription Basic tier is not actually zero cost. Tagmango's pricing page lists a Freedom setup fee of ₹24,999 + GST per year, and an Enterprise setup fee of ₹1,00,000 + GST. Confirm with them which applies to your account before you treat Basic as free. On top of that, its 10% commission is double Peerseek's 5%. On ₹10 lakh of course sales that gap alone is ₹50,000.

Third, Tagmango Pro costs ₹50,000/year and takes the same 5% Peerseek takes. That comparison never flips at any revenue level. Neither does Graphy's cheapest plan, which costs more upfront and charges a higher percentage.

The honest break-even math

We are not going to pretend Peerseek is cheapest for everyone, and you should be suspicious of any platform that claims that. Here is the formula, so you can run it on whatever plan you are actually considering:

Break-even revenue = annual subscription ÷ (Peerseek's 5% minus the other platform's commission)

Below that number, pay-per-sale costs you less. Above it, the flat fee wins and you should switch. Run against Tagmango's own published plans:

Plan you would switch toSubscriptionCommission gap vs 5%You need to clear
Tagmango Advanced₹1,50,000/yr2.5%₹60 lakh a year
Tagmango Ultimate₹3,60,000/yr5%₹72 lakh a year

So if you are doing ₹60 lakh or more a year in course revenue alone, go compare flat-fee platforms carefully. Genuinely. Below that, paying a percentage of money you have actually received is the sane structure, and it is the difference between launching this month and not launching.

Both sides exclude payment-gateway charges, which you pay on any platform. Tagmango's Ultimate tier lists a 1.5% gateway charge separately, so its real gap is narrower than 5% and its true break-even is higher than ₹72 lakh.

What you get on Peerseek Courses

Zero upfront cost usually means a stripped-down product. Here is what is actually in the box.

Build the course

  • Sections and lessons, reorderable, in a single-screen builder.
  • Four lesson types: video, PDF, rich text, and quiz. Mix them freely inside one course.
  • Video uploads up to 15 GB per file, and up to 2 hours per lesson, so you can publish a full masterclass as a single lesson without chopping it up.
  • Per-lesson attachments up to 500 MB each, uploaded in chunks so a patchy connection does not restart the whole thing.
  • Free preview lessons. Mark any lesson playable before purchase. This is the single biggest conversion lever on a course landing page.
  • Videos transcode in the background. You keep editing while they process.

Quiz and certify

  • Auto-graded quizzes: multiple choice and multi-select, per-question marks, a pass percentage you set, retakes, and an optional "must pass to proceed" gate that locks later lessons.
  • Certificates on completion, with four templates, your accent colour, and your signature. Every certificate carries a public verification URL, so an employer can confirm it is real, and an "Add to LinkedIn profile" action.
  • Certificates are frozen at issue. If you edit the course later, an earned certificate never changes and is never revoked.

Protect the content

This is the part creators ask about first, and it is usually the part locked behind a premium tier elsewhere. On Peerseek it is on for everyone, at ₹0.

  • Encrypted adaptive streaming. Course video is served as encrypted HLS with keys that rotate through playback, not as a downloadable file sitting behind a login.
  • Short-lived playback sessions tied to the device that opened them. A copied link does not travel.
  • Visible learner watermark. The viewer's own identity is overlaid on the player. Nothing stops a determined screen-recorder outright, but a recording that carries the recorder's own name is dramatically less likely to get posted in a Telegram group.
  • Automatic bulk-download detection. Playback that behaves like a ripper rather than a human gets its session cut, while normal seeking and scrubbing is unaffected.
  • Concurrent stream limits, so one purchase does not quietly become a shared login for twelve people.

To be straight with you: this is strong encryption and session control, not a hardware-backed studio DRM licence. If your business depends on Widevine L1 certification specifically, ask us and ask competitors pointed questions about what tier they actually run. We would rather tell you what we do than dress it up.

Sell and get paid

  • UPI, cards, and wallets through Razorpay. Guest checkout works, so a buyer does not need an account to pay.
  • One-time pricing and free courses. Run a discount and the crossed-out original price shows on your course page.
  • Coupons and discounts, shared with the rest of your Peerseek offerings.
  • Access validity: lifetime, or expiring after a number of days you set.
  • Bring your own Razorpay account if you already have one.
  • Earnings land in the same wallet and payout flow as your consultations, webinars, and digital products. One balance, one bank account.

See what is working

  • Enrollments and revenue over time.
  • A completion funnel: enrolled, started, percentage of lessons done, completed, certified.
  • Per-lesson drop-off, which tells you exactly which lesson is losing people so you can re-record that one instead of guessing.
  • Announcements to everyone enrolled, delivered by email and in their classroom.
  • Learners get progress tracking, resume-where-you-left-off, and auto-advance, on a mobile-first player built for 4G.

What Peerseek Courses does not do yet

Being clear about this saves everyone time.

  • Live and cohort courses. Courses today are self-paced only. If your product is a scheduled batch where everyone moves together, our Webinars and Cohorts offering covers live sessions, but it is not a cohort LMS.
  • Automatic GST invoicing. Not generated for you yet.
  • EMI and instalments. Not supported. This matters on ₹15,000+ courses.
  • A white-label mobile app. Peerseek is mobile-web-first.
  • Affiliate selling and course marketplaces. Learners come from your audience and your storefront, not from browsing a marketplace. If you have no audience yet, no platform solves that, and you should be sceptical of one that promises it.

If any of these is a dealbreaker for you, another platform is genuinely the better call right now.

Who this is actually for

Peerseek Courses fits you if:

  • You have real expertise and an audience on Instagram, LinkedIn, X, or YouTube, at any size.
  • You want to test a course before betting ₹25,000 on it.
  • You already sell consultations, webinars, or digital products and want your course revenue in the same place.
  • Piracy is the thing keeping you from uploading your best material.

It does not fit you if you need live cohorts, EMI at checkout, or you are already clearing ₹60 lakh a year in pure course revenue, where a flat fee would cost you less.

How to launch your first course

  1. Pick one narrow outcome. "Options trading" is a book. "Read an options chain and place your first hedged trade" is a course people finish.
  2. Record 8 to 15 lessons, roughly 6 to 12 minutes each. Phone video with clean audio beats a studio with bad audio.
  3. Mark one or two lessons as free preview. Make them genuinely useful, not a trailer.
  4. Add a quiz at the end of each section. Completion goes up when people have to actively check themselves.
  5. Turn on certificates. Learners posting a verified certificate on LinkedIn is free distribution back to you.
  6. Price for your audience, not for the market. A ₹2,999 course that 200 people finish beats a ₹9,999 course that 20 people refund.
  7. Watch per-lesson drop-off after 30 days and re-record the single worst lesson. Repeat.

Frequently asked questions

Is there any monthly or annual fee to sell courses on Peerseek?+

No. There is no subscription, no setup cost, and no platform fee. Peerseek charges a 5% transaction fee, and only when you make a sale.

How much does it cost to sell a ₹5,000 course on Peerseek?+

Peerseek's transaction fee on a ₹5,000 sale is ₹250. Payment gateway charges apply as they do on any platform. There is no annual fee on top.

Can I sell a free course?+

Yes. Free courses enroll instantly with no payment step.

Do learners get a certificate?+

Yes, if you enable it. Certificates carry a public verification link and can be added to LinkedIn. They are frozen at the moment they are issued, so editing your course later never invalidates one.

How is course video protected from piracy?+

Video is delivered as encrypted adaptive streaming with rotating keys, inside short-lived sessions bound to the viewing device. Each learner sees their own identity watermarked on the player, concurrent streams are capped, and download-like playback behaviour is automatically cut off.

Does Peerseek support live or cohort-based courses?+

Not yet. Courses are self-paced. Live sessions are available through Peerseek's Webinars and Cohorts offering.

Can I move my course from Graphy, Tagmango, or Learnyst?+

Yes. You re-upload your videos and rebuild the curriculum. There is no import tool today, and any platform that tells you migration is effortless is overselling it.

What payment methods do buyers get?+

UPI, cards, and wallets via Razorpay, with guest checkout so buyers do not need an account.

Methodology and sources

We compared the platforms an Indian creator most often shortlists against Peerseek for a self-paced course. Graphy and Tagmango figures are read directly from each vendor's own pricing page on 27 July 2026. Classplus does not publish a public price, so its range is reported from third-party coverage and is marked as such. Break-even figures are calculated as annual subscription divided by the commission gap, excluding payment-gateway charges on both sides. Pricing changes often. Confirm current pricing directly with the vendor before you switch.
