What astrologers report earning on AstroTalk

Before the tables, the caveat that matters most: every figure below is compiled from what working astrologers report, not from anything AstroTalk publishes. Treat them as a realistic spread, not a rate card. The reason that caveat is necessary is the subject of the next section.

Two things are worth noticing immediately.

• Their astrologer signup page. Zero percentages. Zero rupee figures.
• Their own step-by-step registration guide, published on their blog. Zero percentages. Zero rupee earnings figures.
• Their public terms and conditions. We extracted the full text, just over 75,000 characters of it. The words commission, revenue share, payout, remuneration and service charge do not appear once.

We also tried the obvious URLs for an astrologer agreement. All of them return a 404 page. There is no astrologer contract published anywhere on the site.

What this means if you are deciding

So the honest position is this. The figure you will see repeated most often is a 50-50 split. It may well be right. Reported numbers run from about 20% to about 50%, and the higher end is what most working astrologers describe. A widely shared post from an industry commentator puts it bluntly, arguing the commission is 50% rather than 20% and that astrologers are getting only half.

But none of those are primary sources. They are people reporting their experience, which is valuable, and which is also exactly what you would expect to find when the company itself says nothing.

That is the real finding. Not that the cut is large. That you cannot read what the cut is before you commit.

You will learn your actual split during onboarding, after you have filled the form, after the verification call, after you have arranged your week around being available. Every other professional decision of that size comes with the terms in advance.

What a fresher actually earns in the first month

This is the question behind most searches for AstroTalk's astrologer salary, and the honest answer is: less than the tables above suggest.

A new astrologer arrives with no ratings and no reviews. On a marketplace, ratings are the entire ranking mechanism. Customers browse, they see a list, and the list is ordered by signals you have not earned yet. So month one is not a smaller version of month twelve. It is a different problem.

Expect, realistically:

None of that is a criticism of the platform. It is how every ratings marketplace works. But it is worth knowing before you quit something else.

Why your income drops the week you step away

The most under-discussed part of marketplace earning is that the income is not really yours. It is a function of two variables the platform controls the weighting of: how many hours you are online, and how high your rating sits.

Step away for a week and both decay. Your position in the browse list falls, and the calls thin out. Come back and you are partway down a ladder you already climbed.

Yes, in one specific situation, and genuinely so.

If you have no audience, no reviews and no way to reach people who want readings, AstroTalk gives you paying customers on day one. That is real and it is hard to replicate. The demand inside the app is enormous: the company reported roughly ₹1,180 crore of revenue in FY25, up from about ₹650 crore the year before. Reported figures vary by outlet and by which line is counted, with Inc42 putting operating revenue at ₹1,176 crore, Entrackr putting total revenue at ₹1,182 crore and BW Disrupt reporting ₹1,214 crore. Whichever you take, an enormous number of Indians are paying for astrology inside that app, and a new astrologer can reach them without building anything.

For a beginner, that is worth a large share of the revenue. Learning to read a hundred strangers quickly is a skill you cannot get anywhere else.

The case against is not the size of the cut. It is three things:

3. The relationships you build never become yours
